Why we built a superspeciality hospital in Sangli
For years, families in Sangli district faced a difficult choice when serious illness struck — especially illness of the brain or spine. The choice was between hope and distance: the nearest advanced neurosurgical care meant travelling to Pune, Kolhapur or beyond, arranging stays in an unfamiliar city, and navigating it all in the middle of a medical crisis.
Dr. P. C. Patil, a general surgeon who had served this region for over three decades, had watched too many families make that exhausting journey. His son, Dr. Rohan Patil, returned after completing his M.Ch in Neurosurgery with a conviction: the care should come to the patient, not the other way around. In March 2023, father and son opened Deccan Malti Neuro & Superspeciality Hospital on Sangli–Miraj Road in Vishrambag.
The hospital was built around a specific idea of what healthcare should feel like: consultations where the doctor has time, advice that is honest even when "no surgery needed" is the answer, and specialities that talk to each other so the patient never has to carry a confusing file between disconnected clinics.
Today, the hospital brings ten specialities under one roof — from neurosurgery and cardiology to joint replacement and urology — serving Sangli and the surrounding districts with the steadiness of a family-run institution and the standards of a modern superspeciality centre.

Dr. P. C. Patil is a co-founder of Deccan Malti Neuro & Superspeciality Hospital, Vishrambag, Sangli. With more than 35 years of experience in general surgery, he has guided the hospital's clinical culture from its launch in March 2023 — with a strong emphasis on careful evaluation, honest counselling and safe surgical practice.
